What Vitamins are Good for Eye Health

Vitamin A
Vitamin A most associated with eye health and carrots are the vegetable we have all heard is good for the eyes. The science for this is sound too! As we know, carrots are a great source of vitamin A and if we don't have enough of this vitamin then we will develop night blindness. If this deficiency continues we will eventually become totally blind. In the developed world it is highly unlikely that

we will become that deficient, but this can still be a problem in the third world. However, if we want to reduce our risk of developing other eye diseases like cataracts and age related macular degeneration we need to up our vitamin A intake above and beyond that needed to just hold off night blindness.

Vitamin C and E

Vitamin C and E are also needed for healthy eyes. Both these vitamins have shown in studies that they help reduce the risk of developing age related macular degeneration. Vitamin C also helps reduce our chances of developing cataracts and glaucoma.
